Chinese actress Ma Sichun has openly shared her current relationship status, indirectly confirming speculation that she has broken up with her younger boyfriend, musician Zhang Zhexuan.
The actress recently appeared on a podcast where she spoke candidly about her personal life for the first time in a while. During the conversation, she said, “Being single is actually a very comfortable state. I’m not the type of person who feels like I can’t live without love.”

According to Ma Sichun, the satisfaction she finds in her work and career is already enough to make her life feel fulfilling. Her statement quickly drew public attention, with many interpreting it as confirmation that her relationship with Zhang Zhexuan has come to an end.
Romance rumors about the couple first surfaced in March 2021 when paparazzi photographed them holding hands. Zhang Zhexuan, who is four years younger than the actress, is the lead singer of the rock band PennyLane. At the time, Ma Sichun once described him as “the sun that brightens my life,” particularly during a difficult period when she was struggling with depression.

However, the relationship faced strong criticism from the public. Zhang Zhexuan had previously been involved in several personal controversies, which made many fans worry about Ma Sichun. On social media, some supporters even urged the actress to leave the relationship.
Entertainment industry insiders later suggested that the couple may have quietly separated as early as mid-2024 while Ma Sichun was filming a television drama. Although a video of the two dining with friends surfaced afterward, many believed the footage was recorded earlier.

Throughout the years of dating rumors, Ma Sichun also repeatedly had to deny speculation that she was pregnant or had secretly given birth. In 2022, after posting a workout video on social media, she responded directly to a comment claiming she was “exercising after childbirth” by firmly saying, “Sorry, I have never given birth.”
The actress also explained that her weight gain during a certain period was due to side effects from medication used to treat depression, not pregnancy as some rumors suggested.
Now at 37, Ma Sichun says she no longer wants to spend too much energy trying to change someone in a relationship. She shared her outlook simply: if the right person appears, things will naturally work out—but if not, she is perfectly fine with that as well.
