On April 3, a video titled “Various Frustrating Stories” was uploaded to Gabee’s YouTube channel, where Gabee appeared alongside singer John Park to listen to viewers’ concerns and offer advice.
While discussing a story from someone studying in France but wanting to return to Korea, John Park shared his own experience. He said, “When I came to Korea at 23, I could only speak English and barely knew Korean. When I appeared on Superstar K, I sang poorly and it was a mess,” drawing laughter.
Surprised, Gabee asked how he became so fluent in Korean. John Park replied, “I improved naturally while doing broadcasts. If you make mistakes, you fall behind. People would say, ‘Overseas Koreans can’t make it,’ so I had to adapt.”
Gabee then shared her own past, revealing, “I used to really want to live in LA, but I couldn’t because my visa was denied. I couldn’t get a student visa and wasn’t able to go to the U.S. for 10 years. They kept suspecting me, thinking I might stay there permanently.”

She continued, “When I asked at the embassy why I received the ‘orange paper’ (visa rejection notice), they said there was no reason,” adding, “Even now, I can go to the U.S., but I still get sent to secondary inspection every time.”
Hearing this, John Park reacted in shock, saying, “Isn’t that judging someone purely based on appearance?” Gabee responded, “Maybe they thought something felt off. It’s not like I wore heavy makeup—I went looking very calm. But maybe they just had a bad impression.”
She concluded, “I always wanted to live there, but looking back now, maybe it was better to live in Korea and just visit LA often.”
