Chinese actress Kitty Zhang, often dubbed the “Chinese Song Hye Kyo,” is facing heavy criticism after losing her temper and verbally attacking viewers during a livestream.
The actress, known for her luxurious lifestyle and bold personality, has previously made controversial statements such as “699 yuan (about $100) can’t even buy a pair of socks” and “diamonds under one carat are worthless.” Recently, however, she surprised the public by hosting a livestream selling affordable cosmetics.

The situation escalated when, after promoting products and encouraging purchases, there were few buyers. Visibly irritated, Kitty Zhang reacted strongly. When some anti-fans joked about abusing the return policy to cancel orders, she lost control, used profanity, and directly scolded more than 10,000 viewers watching the stream.
Not stopping there, she shocked even the brand she was collaborating with by abruptly ending the livestream despite staff attempts to calm the situation, declaring, “Go buy expensive things elsewhere. I’m not selling anymore.”
Her actions quickly sparked widespread backlash. Even Ge Xiaoqian, known as her romantic rival, joined the discussion and criticized her, pointing out that she earns money from fans’ support yet shows them no respect.

According to Chinese outlet 163, Kitty Zhang had previously built a “straight-talking, bold woman” image, but that very persona is now backfiring. She is increasingly being labeled as rude, ill-tempered, and lacking emotional intelligence, with her reputation worsening further amid past scandals.

The actress once earned massive income through livestream sales, reportedly making between 50 to 80 million yuan annually. However, data from March this year shows a sharp decline in her sales, which may continue to drop following this latest controversy.
Kitty Zhang first rose to fame through films by Stephen Chow, gaining popularity for her beauty, striking figure, and outspoken personality. Coming from a difficult background, she built a successful career and became one of the wealthy figures in Chinese entertainment.

Her personal life has also been filled with controversies, including two high-profile divorces from director Wang Quan’an and businessman Yuan Bayuan. Earlier this year, she faced serious allegations of being involved in an affair, threatening a legal wife, and participating in surrogacy actions that reportedly violate Chinese law.
These ongoing controversies have severely damaged her public image. She has reportedly been dropped by brands, removed from major TV appearances, and excluded from high-profile events like the Lunar New Year Gala.
After a period of silence, Kitty Zhang attempted a comeback through livestream sales in early March, but results have been underwhelming. Her recent outburst at viewers has only intensified public backlash, further fueling calls for a boycott.
