On March 18, singer Sung Si Kyung shared an update about her condition during a video on his YouTube channel, where actress Ha Ji Won appeared as a guest and talked about their upcoming drama Climax.
While discussing the cast, Sung Si Kyung mentioned Cha Joo Young and revealed that her condition has not yet fully improved.
“We invited her as a surprise guest this time, but her condition still hasn’t been resolved,” he said. “It was serious enough that she had to undergo surgery under general anesthesia.”
Cha Joo Young has been suffering from recurring nosebleeds, which ultimately led her to suspend activities earlier this year.
Ha Ji Won also expressed her concern, saying, “It would have been fun if Cha Joo Young could join us. I actually spoke with her on the phone on my way here. We said we’d meet once she gets better.”
Previously, Cha Joo Young’s agency confirmed that she had been receiving treatment after experiencing long-term, repeated nosebleed symptoms. Following medical advice, she underwent an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) surgery that could no longer be delayed.
The agency stated that she is currently in a recovery and observation phase, making it difficult for her to participate in promotional activities and official schedules.
As a result, the actress has been on a temporary hiatus since January, focusing on her health and recovery.
