On January 28, Rosé appeared as a guest on the hit American podcast Call Her Daddy, hosted by Alex Cooper. During the interview, Cooper pointed out that Rosé hinted at romance in her first full album “rosie” but has never publicly dated. She asked if Rosé was intentionally protecting her partner’s privacy.
Rosé responded, “It’s definitely tied to wanting to protect someone I love. If my friends are attacked, especially if someone close to me gets hurt, it pains me. I’m fine being in the public eye is my job. But I don’t know if I can feel completely safe enough to trust that the media will protect me. Maybe if that changes, I could be more open.”
When Cooper asked if any partner had ever questioned the secrecy, Rosé recalled one who did. “Looking back, I remember one boyfriend who wondered, ‘Is she hiding me?’ He was overly anxious—he’d say, ‘We can’t do anything, we can’t go anywhere.’” But she contrasted that with other relationships, saying, “Later, I dated people who were much more famous, and they wanted to do more with me in public. When I said no, they asked, ‘Why not?’”

When asked directly how she avoided paparazzi, Rosé laughed nervously but shared her creative methods. “I’ve had some strange experiences. I used to be extremely anxious and never wanted to be seen. I bought a short, curly black wig from an online store, studied how elderly women dressed on the streets, and recreated their looks.”
She continued, “I went on dates dressed like a grandma. Since I couldn’t go out in public, I’d go to my boyfriend’s house in disguise. At one point, I had a whole section of my closet filled with grandma outfits. I think I kept it up for at least six months. I really did my best.”

When asked if she’s currently dating anyone, Rosé replied, “I’m still searching for love.” She added emotionally, “Whenever I get this question, I think of all the headlines and comments that follow. I want to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ simply, but then I wonder if that defines who I am. It’s such a sad reality. Just because I’m in a K-pop group doesn’t mean I’m a different kind of person.” She teared up during the moment.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is set to make a full-group comeback with their third mini album DEADLINE, releasing on February 27 at 2 p.m. This marks their first complete group release in three years and five months.
