BLACKPINK’s Lisa is rumored to be among several actresses being considered for the lead role of Rapunzel in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of “Tangled.”
The casting rumors emerged in late October 2025, just months after the studio confirmed it had resumed production on the project.
Reports suggest that Disney is searching for a high-profile star to star as the golden-haired princess after facing challenges with recent live-action remakes. The studio’s “Snow White” project, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, underperformed, prompting the studio to look for a major celebrity draw. Lisa‘s widespread fame and global influence appear to have made her an attractive candidate for the role. Her loyal fanbase across multiple continents and established presence in the entertainment industry could potentially provide the box office appeal Disney is targeting.
Lisa is one of several actresses in the running for the part. Other names being screened for Rapunzel include “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney, “Sex Education’s” Aimee Lou Wood, Charlotte Le Bon, and Sarah Catherine Hook. The competition for the role reflects the significant attention surrounding the project.
The live-action “Tangled” has been the subject of industry speculation for some time. Though Disney initially delayed the project amid a string of mixed results from its live-action remakes, the success of the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” prompted the studio to move forward. Reports also indicate that acclaimed actress Scarlett Johansson may take on the role of Mother Gothel, Rapunzel’s antagonist. Johansson has since hinted that rumors about her involvement “may not be untrue,” according to industry coverage.
As of now, Disney has not officially confirmed the casting or even acknowledged the live-action project publicly. No statements have been released regarding Lisa’s involvement or any of the other rumored names.
The potential casting comes after Lisa’s notable entry into acting. The Thai artist made her television debut in HBO’s “The White Lotus” Season 3, where she played Mook, a staff member at a luxury resort. Her performance garnered praise for her natural acting ability and on-screen presence. Industry observers note that casting the singer would require finding an actress who possesses both strong dramatic skills and vocal talent, given that the original animated film is celebrated for its memorable songs.
