BLACKPINK will turn the National Museum of Korea pink later this month as part of a large-scale project marking the release of their comeback EP “Deadline.”
The “National Museum of Korea X BLACKPINK” collaboration will run from Feb. 27 to March 8 in Seoul, timed to the group’s third EP arriving on Feb. 27.
During the event, the exterior of the state-run museum and its outdoor plaza in Yongsan will be illuminated in the group’s signature pink, creating a nightly spectacle for visitors. The lighting is planned as a special event to celebrate both the new release and BLACKPINK’s growing role as cultural ambassadors for Korea, according to the Korea JoongAng Daily.
According to YG Entertainment, this is the first time the National Museum of Korea has carried out an official, large-scale collaboration with a K-pop artist. The project is organized in partnership with global streaming platform Spotify, which will help power special listening programs linked to the EP.
BLACKPINK’s “Deadline” is the group’s first group EP in more than three years and is positioned as both a finale to their recent world tour and the start of a new chapter.
Fans visiting the museum during the promotion will be able to take part in curated music experiences. A dedicated listening zone along a route inside the museum, dubbed the “Path of History,” will allow visitors to hear the full record from the moment of its release on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m., Money Control reported.
Pre-release listening sessions beginning Feb. 26 will give selected attendees, including Spotify Premium users and pre-registered fans, an early chance to hear the tracks.
Beyond music, BLACKPINK will also serve as audio guides for eight key artifacts in the museum, recording commentary designed to connect their global fan base with Korean cultural heritage.
YG Entertainment has described the collaboration as a meeting between a K-pop act that has made global history and an institution that represents the country’s cultural identity. With the museum’s façade glowing pink each evening, the project aims to blend pop music, history, and tourism in one highly visible comeback celebration, as per Khan Sports.
