PocketDol Studio announced that BAE173 member Lee Hangyul’s contract will officially end on February 28. In its statement, PocketDol Studio said, “Hangyul’s exclusive contract will come to an end on February 28. Over the past 10 years, we have shared a meaningful journey together, watching each other grow. We sincerely thank Hangyul for his quiet passion and dedication throughout that time. Although our exclusive contract is ending, we wholeheartedly support his new activities and challenges moving forward.”
In an uncommon move, CEO Kim Kwang-soo personally addressed Lee Hangyul’s departure. He stated, “Hangyul has always stood by the company’s side during good times and difficult times, in moments of joy and sadness. To me, he has been like a companion, a friend, and even a younger brother. I am truly grateful that he stayed with us for so long.”
Reflecting on his 41 years of observing artists, Kim noted that it is rare to see someone who steadfastly holds their place with such sincerity. He added that Hangyul is someone very dear to him, deeply cherished, and sincerely congratulated and blessed him as he begins a new chapter. Such a heartfelt message directly from a CEO underscores the significance of Lee Hangyul’s decade-long bond with the agency.

Following X1’s disbandment, he promoted in the unit H&D alongside Nam Dohyon before officially debuting with BAE173 on November 19, 2020. Most recently, he was selected as a final member on the survival program Starlight Boys and is currently promoting as part of POLARIX, continuing to expand his career.
