The fantasy drama White Moon Brahma Star has been gaining attention not only for its storyline but also for a behind-the-scenes moment involving its two lead actors, Bai Lu and Ao Ruipeng.
The series marks the first collaboration between Bai Lu and Ao Ruipeng. It tells the story of Bai Shuo, a mortal woman portrayed by Bai Lu who begins a journey of cultivation to repay a debt of gratitude. Along the way, she encounters Fan Yue, the powerful demon king played by Ao Ruipeng. Initially suspicious of her intentions, the two characters gradually overcome numerous trials and develop romantic feelings while fighting supernatural threats together.

In the drama, Bai Shuo must collect the powers of love, hatred, killing, greed, and kindness to activate a mystical artifact known as the Five Thought Stone. Her journey takes her through multiple locations such as Ning’an City, Yiren City, Jingyou Mountain, Stone City, and Bodhi Village, where she faces different challenges while searching for the five energies.
Aside from the storyline, Bai Lu’s character has also drawn praise for her wide variety of costumes throughout the drama. The actress appears in multiple styles, from elegant and gentle outfits to striking red ensembles and even a playful fox-inspired look. Ao Ruipeng jokingly said he was envious of her constantly changing wardrobe, describing her costumes as “magnificent and luxurious,” while humorously referring to his own as “ragged clothes.”

Although it was their first time working together, the two stars quickly developed a friendly relationship on set. Behind-the-scenes footage often shows them joking and teasing each other. Bai Lu even playfully grabbed Ao Ruipeng by the back of his collar in one clip, prompting the actor to joke that he felt as if he had aged ten years working with her because he was constantly getting “picked on.”
One particular moment that captured viewers’ attention was a dramatic kiss scene in which Ao Ruipeng’s character boldly pulls Bai Lu close and kisses her. Despite the scene appearing confident on screen, filming it reportedly proved difficult for the actor. The director even demonstrated how the moment should look and jokingly teased him for not being “forceful enough,” implying he seemed inexperienced. In the end, Bai Lu helped guide him through the scene so they could successfully complete the shot.
The entertaining behind-the-scenes stories and the actors’ playful chemistry have added to the drama’s popularity as “White Moon Brahma Star” continues airing on Taiwan’s CTI Entertainment.
