Kim Ju Ha is an actress and MC who has received considerable love from audiences in South Korea. She once drew attention for appearing in the film Real, where she worked alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Sulli. Recently, on March 14, she appeared on a talk show uploaded to the YouTube channel of psychologist Oh Eun Young. During the program, she shocked viewers by revealing painful details about her marriage to a businessman.
According to Kim Ju Ha, she held her wedding ceremony in Korea with the businessman in 2004. At the time, the man secretly hid the fact that he had already been married in the United States by falsifying documents, successfully deceiving her. Even more shocking, when he first started dating Kim Ju Ha, he was still legally married to his first wife. The actress only discovered the truth sometime after their marriage, when she accidentally found documents proving his previous marriage in the U.S. while cleaning her mother-in-law’s wardrobe.
When Kim Ju Ha confronted her husband about the issue, he showed no remorse and instead responded in a way that left her furious and stunned. He reportedly said, “Are you that upset? Then just get a divorce.” Recalling that moment, Kim Ju Ha said tearfully that the words deeply shocked her, especially because their first child had not even turned one year old at the time.
In the years that followed, the tragedy of her marriage continued. The actress said she was devastated when she discovered that her husband had rented an apartment for his mistress directly across from their own home. According to her, he even brought their son over to visit the woman.
Kim Ju Ha revealed that when she confronted her husband with evidence of his affair, he responded with violence. Through tears, she explained that he physically attacked her in order to protect his mistress. The assault reportedly left her with a ruptured eardrum, and she still suffers from hearing problems in one ear. She also revealed that she was assaulted twice by her husband, and during one incident she fell and suffered a brain hemorrhage.
In another incident, the businessman allegedly strangled her simply because she refused to wear clothes he had bought for her, forcing her to be hospitalized for emergency treatment.
The violence did not stop with her. According to Kim Ju Ha, her husband also abused their son. She said she could endure being attacked herself, but could not accept seeing her child hurt. She recalled an incident when their son was playing hide-and-seek and came out later than expected. Her husband reportedly grabbed the child by the collar and slapped him repeatedly. The actress stated that this happened twice.
Unable to continue living in what she described as “a living hell,” Kim Ju Ha eventually filed for divorce from the businessman. In the end, she gained custody of the children and received 50 million won in compensation for emotional damages caused by her husband.
At the time of the divorce, the couple had accumulated assets worth approximately 2.7 billion won. Notably, almost all of that wealth had been earned by Kim Ju Ha herself. By the time their assets were divided, her husband reportedly had only 320,000 won left to his name due to excessive spending on himself and his mistress. Despite that, the court ordered Kim Ju Ha to give him 1.021 billion won as part of the asset division—money that many observers believe she had worked tirelessly to earn on her own.
The situation became even more bitter after the divorce papers were signed. According to Kim Ju Ha, her ex-husband showed his true character by emptying the house of belongings immediately after their separation.
