On January 25, Cha Joo Young’s agency Ghost Studio released an official statement via social media, explaining that the actress will be unable to attend her scheduled public appearances and some professional activities for the time being. The agency cited health-related reasons as the cause of the sudden adjustment.
According to the statement, Cha Joo Young has been receiving examinations and treatment for recurrent episodes of nosebleeds that have persisted over a long period of time. Following medical consultation, doctors advised that an otolaryngology (ENT) surgery could no longer be postponed. The actress has since completed the procedure and is currently in the recovery and observation phase.
“Based on the medical team’s opinion, surgery was unavoidable,” the agency shared. “During the recovery period, Cha Joo Young will find it difficult to participate in official schedules, including promotional activities for her projects. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
Ghost Studio also apologized for any concern caused by the unavoidable schedule changes, emphasizing that the company is fully committed to supporting Cha Joo Young’s recovery. “We will prioritize her health and ensure she receives sufficient rest and treatment so she can return in good condition,” the statement added.
Cha Joo Young made her acting debut in 2016 with the drama Cheese in the Trap and rose to widespread recognition through her role as Choi Hye Jung in the hit Netflix series The Glory in 2022. She is currently set to appear in the upcoming film Sister, scheduled for release on January 28, where she plays So Jin, a woman kidnapped by her own sibling for ransom. Additionally, she is slated to star in ENA’s Monday–Tuesday drama Climax, expected to premiere in March.
While her temporary hiatus may impact promotional schedules, fans and industry insiders alike have expressed support, emphasizing that her health should come first. With a strong lineup of projects already completed, Cha Joo Young is expected to return to the spotlight once she has fully recovered.
