MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama Wednesday, Thursday, Friday tells the story of a second chance at love with a first love who returns after 12 years. Set against the backdrop of a restaurant named Sumokgeum, the series explores love, forgiveness and personal growth. The 12-episode drama is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2027.
The three lead roles have officially been confirmed for Shin Min-ah, Lee Jin-wook and Teo Yoo.
First, Shin Min-ah will play Cha Eun-soo, a woman who returns to find her first love, whom she parted ways with 12 years ago, while concealing her true intentions. After breaking up with her first love, she has spent her life as another man’s wife, but deep down, she longs for the life she truly wants.
Shin Min-ah has established herself as one of the leading actresses in the romance genre through her signature charm and nuanced emotional performances in dramas such as Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Our Blues and No Gain No Love. Having continued to explore different genres through the drama Karma and the film The Eyes, audiences are eager to see how she will portray Cha Eun-soo’s complex inner world in Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Lee Jin-wook will take on the role of Kim Dong-woo, the chef of the restaurant Sumokgeum, which opens only on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Carrying the memories of a first love he was unable to protect, he has lived a detached and uneventful life. He works just three days a week and spends the remaining four doing absolutely nothing. However, his peaceful routine is disrupted when Cha Eun-soo, his first love from 12 years ago, walks into his restaurant.
Drawing on his extensive experience in melodramas and romance dramas, Lee Jin-wook is expected to deliver a delicate portrayal of Kim Dong-woo’s bittersweet emotions as he reunites with his first love.
Finally, Teo Yoo will play Lee Won-pil, Cha Eun-soo’s husband and an executive director at Hangu Construction. Although he has both wealth and professional success, he does not know how to love. Even the way he tries to protect someone is far from ordinary, and his twisted desires sometimes emerge, adding tension to the story.
Teo Yoo attracted international attention through the films Leto and Past Lives, while demonstrating his versatility in dramas such as Money Game and Love to Hate You. Having established a distinctive identity through both Korean and international productions, viewers are particularly interested in how he will portray Lee Won-pil’s complicated nature as a man caught between love and desire.
Shin Min-ah, Lee Jin-wook and Teo Yoo each bring their own unique appeal and compelling acting abilities. Expectations are high for the three stars to deliver a deeply moving portrayal of mature love in Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
