On October 30, a representative of her agency, HB Entertainment, told Star News that the allegations against Cha Ye-ryun were “completely untrue.”
On October 29, a post titled “Please Stop This 1985-Born Actress From Working After Her School Bullying” appeared on an online community.
The author, identified as A, claimed that actress C, who attended Junggye Middle School in Seoul, was notorious in the local area during her school years for being a school bully and a member of a delinquent group. A expressed distress, saying, “Every time I see her smiling on TV or YouTube and being portrayed as a good wife, a good mother, and someone with a healthy image, I feel immense pain.”
A continued: “Because of her, I still visit a mental health clinic and take medication. I live with depression and anxiety symptoms to this day. Back in middle school, she was truly like a devil. She repeatedly bullied me in the back of the classroom, in bathrooms, on playgrounds, and in the hallways of buildings near the school.”
As one example, A claimed: “At school, whenever she saw me, she would swear at me. When I was sitting at my desk, she would walk past and repeatedly kick my chair. During physical education classes, she would borrow my gym clothes and never return them, putting me in difficult situations. She also frequently borrowed my textbooks and refused to give them back. Whenever I asked for my belongings, she would scream and curse at me.”
A also alleged: “The physical assaults always took place in a building near the school. During breaks, she would come over and tell me to stay behind that day. After school, she and her friends from the delinquent group would take me to that building, where they beat me in the hallway. Cruelly, she mainly targeted my cheeks when hitting me, causing my eardrum to rupture and my face to become severely swollen.”
Following the post, internet users began speculating that Cha Ye-ryun was the actress referred to as C.
