The ever-expanding universe of Dragon Ball, through Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball DAIMA, has revealed the astonishing ages and terrifying power of its oldest beings.
Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball franchise continues to expand, with recent revelations shedding light on the truly incredible ages of its most powerful characters. From a planet-devouring sorcerer who threatened the universe millions of years ago to a Majin associated with the very creation of the multiverse, these beings make even Goku’s most powerful transformations seem like just the beginning.
Here are the seven oldest characters, ranked according to their strength, feats, and influence across the universe.
7. Majin Buu

Majin Buu’s destructive history stretches back millions of years, long before Goku became Earth’s protector. Although early accounts credited the wizard Bibidi with creating Buu, Akira Toriyama later clarified that Buu had existed since time immemorial, alternating between periods of universal slaughter and long hibernations.
Buu ranks seventh thanks to his incredible regeneration, unpredictable fighting style, and numerous forms, all of which make him a nightmare to defeat. However, his position also reflects the much greater cosmic scale of the beings ranked above him.
6. Moro

Rather than seeking immortality by wishing on the Dragon Balls, Moro chose a more direct approach: draining entire planets of their life energy and adding it to his own power. Chapter 43 of the Dragon Ball Super manga reveals that Moro terrorized Universe 7 around 10 million years ago, destroying countless worlds before the Grand Supreme Kai sealed away his magic.
What makes Moro truly dangerous is that fighting him can actually make the situation worse. During the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc, he absorbs energy from both planets and powerful warriors, leaving even Goku and Vegeta struggling against him. His ability to grow stronger by absorbing energy places him above Buu, although the divine beings ranked higher possess considerably greater authority and power.
5. Gods of Destruction

Beerus introduced a terrifying new level of power when he appeared in Dragon Ball Super. The God of Destruction can defeat most opponents with little effort, while his signature Hakai technique allows him to erase targets rather than simply defeat them in battle. Beerus’s history also extends back at least 75 million years, based on his encounter with the Old Supreme Kai, who had been sealed inside the Z Sword.
Beerus is not the only formidable God of Destruction. Each universe has its own, including Champa, whose rivalry with Beerus caused considerable chaos during the Universe 6 arc. They rank fifth because their destructive power far surpasses that of ancient mortal villains. However, the Angels who accompany them demonstrate that even these gods have higher-ranking beings overseeing them.
4. Angels

Imagine being assigned to supervise a God of Destruction while actually being more powerful than your own boss. That is precisely the situation for the Angels. Whis serves as Beerus’s attendant and martial arts instructor, and he demonstrated the enormous gap between them by effortlessly knocking Beerus down in the early episodes of Dragon Ball Super.
Their mastery of Ultra Instinct makes them especially dangerous in combat, allowing them to react and move without the delays associated with conscious thought. They also possess extraordinary abilities that go far beyond conventional fighting techniques. The Angels rank above the Gods of Destruction because their demonstrated combat skills give them a clear advantage.
3. Grand Minister

As the father of the Angels, the Grand Minister occupies a special position within the divine hierarchy and is portrayed as one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse. Even Whis shows him exceptional respect.
What makes the Grand Minister particularly intriguing is that the series has revealed very little about his true power. Unlike Beerus, who regularly demonstrates his destructive abilities, the Grand Minister remains largely a mystery. He ranks third because his status and reputation place him above the Angels.
2. Zeno

Zeno may look like a cheerful child, but his power is anything but harmless. During the Future Trunks arc, he erased the corrupted future timeline after Zamasu’s transformation threatened everything. Later, the Tournament of Power made it clear that the survival of entire universes could be at stake when he decided their inhabitants failed to meet his expectations.
Zeno ranks second because his ability to erase entire universes and timelines makes him more dangerous than almost anyone else in the franchise.
1. Majin Rymus – The Creator of the Entire Dragon Ball Multiverse

Dragon Ball DAIMA delivered one of the franchise’s biggest revelations in Episode 10, titled “Ocean.” Shin explains that a Super Majin named Rymus created the universes after receiving an order from the benevolent Great Demon King. Rymus also appointed members of the Glind race as Supreme Kais to oversee the newly created universes.
This places Rymus in a category of his own in terms of cosmic significance. Zeno can erase universes, but Rymus is responsible for creating them in the first place. His actual fighting ability remains unknown, so claiming that he is definitively stronger than Zeno would go beyond what official details establish. Nevertheless, his feat of creation makes him a compelling choice for the number-one spot in a ranking of the franchise’s ancient characters based on overall power and influence.
