On October 21, Nana’s agency, Sublime, released an official statement outlining the progress of the case involving a man identified as A, who was sentenced to seven years in prison in the first trial for aggravated robbery resulting in injury. The agency also revealed that A has been indicted for making a false accusation and is awaiting trial in that separate case. The statement came one day before the verdict in his appeal against the original sentence.
Regarding A, who received a seven-year prison sentence in the first trial, Nana’s agency stated, “To this day, he has shown no genuine remorse or offered an apology to the victims. Despite the overwhelming evidence and numerous witnesses, he continues to repeat the blatantly false claim that he did not enter the home carrying a weapon. He has even appealed the sentence, arguing that the punishment imposed in the first trial was excessive.”
The agency continued, “The defendant has gone further by sending letters to numerous broadcasters and media outlets claiming that he has been wronged, continuing to make false and misleading statements. These claims, which contradict the facts, have caused confusion among broadcasters and media organizations while subjecting the victims to ongoing secondary victimization.” It added that both the victims and the agency had been seriously concerned about the possibility of retaliation or reoffending by the defendant, who had shown no remorse, from the day of the incident to the present.
“Furthermore, the defendant engaged in an inhumane and reprehensible act by filing a counter-complaint against our artist, accusing her of attempted murder and aggravated robbery,” the agency said. “Our artist immediately filed a complaint against him for making a false accusation.”
The agency explained that investigative authorities subsequently conducted a thorough investigation, including interviews with witnesses and forensic examinations of mobile phones. Based on the findings, investigators determined that the defendant’s allegations were entirely false and indicted him for making a false accusation. He is now awaiting a court hearing in that case.

Sublime also stated, “During the trial proceedings, it was revealed that the defendant had committed numerous other crimes beyond this incident. The prosecutor reportedly remarked that, despite encountering tens of thousands of criminals over more than 20 years, it was rare to encounter someone who had committed such a wide variety of offenses as this defendant. The prosecutor also described him as fundamentally lacking respect for the law, unable to reflect on his wrongdoing, and highly skilled at telling deliberate lies.”
The agency concluded, “We hope that our artist and her family, who have suffered serious harm as a result of this incident, will no longer have to endure further suffering caused by false allegations and secondary victimization.”
On November 15 last year, an armed intruder broke into Nana’s home in Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, in the early hours of the morning. Nana and her mother, who were inside the house at the time, reportedly struggled with the intruder, subdued him, and called the police. Nana’s mother sustained serious injuries, while Nana was also reported to have been injured.
A subsequently filed a counter-complaint against Nana, accusing her of attempted murder. However, the police decided not to refer the case to prosecutors due to a lack of grounds for the charges, bringing that investigation to a close.
In June, the court found A guilty of the main charges in the first trial and sentenced him to seven years in prison. The injuries Nana inflicted on him during the confrontation were recognized as legitimate self-defense. A appealed the ruling, and prosecutors also filed an appeal, seeking a 10-year prison sentence.
