Chosen to succeed actress Park Ha-sun, who has hosted the program for six years, Lee El will take over Lee El’s Cine Town starting November 2. She is scheduled to meet listeners every day at 11 a.m.
Lee El has earned praise for her distinctive performances in films and dramas, including Inside Men, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, My Liberation Notes, Queen Mantis, and Battle for Happiness. Beyond acting, she has also demonstrated her abilities as a broadcaster, serving as a special DJ on various programs and lending her voice to narration projects. Her captivating voice and witty, cheerful personality have made her stand out in these roles as well.
Lee El previously attracted attention by sharing unusual stories about her school years on a television program. She revealed that she struggled to adjust after entering high school, eventually deciding to drop out. She later earned her high school equivalency qualification before gaining admission to Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Acting Arts, an unconventional educational journey that drew public interest.
The SBS Power FM production team explained its decision to select her, saying, “Lee El is an actress with a distinctive personality and a captivating voice that immediately catches the listener’s ear. In addition to the powerful presence she has demonstrated in her acting roles, she also possesses a down-to-earth and approachable charm that suits her as a DJ.”
The team continued, “Lee El has a broad perspective that encompasses not only films and music but also the everyday lives of listeners. We expect her unique sensibility and witty conversational style to make her a DJ whom people will want to keep close for a long time.”
First launched in 1999, Cine Town is one of SBS Power FM’s flagship programs dedicated to cinema. Previous hosts have included Song Seung-hwan, Shim Hye-jin, Lee Seung-yeon, Gong Hyung-jin, announcers Park Sun-young and Jang Ye-won, and Park Ha-sun.
