On October 14, Kim Hyun Yi addressed the confusion through her Instagram account, expressing frustration over the spread of misinformation. “Following the news of the passing of someone who has the same name as me, photographs of my face have been incorrectly posted online as though they belonged to the deceased person, and these images are continuing to spread,” she wrote.
The actress emphasized that she had no connection to the deceased performer and that the mistaken identification had caused significant distress. “I am a completely different person from the deceased, and this situation has caused me serious harm and emotional suffering,” she stated. “I have collected all relevant evidence and am currently requesting the removal of these posts while proceeding with the necessary legal measures.”
Kim Hyun Yi also urged the public to stop sharing the misleading images and help prevent further confusion. “If you have seen these posts or mistakenly believe that I am the person who passed away, please understand that I am not the individual in question,” she explained. She added, “I ask that you refrain from carelessly sharing inaccurate information so that it does not spread any further. If you come across any related posts, please report them to me.”
Meanwhile, stunt actress Kim Hyun Yi tragically passed away in August following a traffic accident while traveling to a filming location. News of her death only recently became widely known after memorial messages appeared at the end of broadcasts of SBS’s Doctor X: Mafia in White and tvN’s 100 Days of Deception. The tributes brought renewed attention to her passing, but the subsequent confusion between the two actresses has led to the circulation of incorrect photographs, prompting the surviving actress to publicly clarify her identity and pursue legal action.
