Boruto has recently given Sarada Uchiha a Mangekyo Sharingan ability capable of creating black spheres with terrifying gravitational force.
Sarada’s newly revealed technique, known as Ohirume, is far more than just another overpowered Uchiha jutsu. The ability allows her to manipulate forces capable of pulling in and crushing opponents, although using it comes at an extremely high cost. Interestingly, its mechanics make Sarada’s new power strikingly reminiscent of one of Marshall D. Teach’s most dangerous abilities.

Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan technique, Ohirume, first appeared in Chapter 20 of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, when she unleashed it during her intense confrontation with Ryu. Chapter 21 further explained the technique, revealing that she can create multiple black spheres simultaneously. Despite their relatively small size, these spheres generate an extraordinarily powerful gravitational pull.
This is what sets Sarada apart from traditional Sharingan users. Instead of simply launching a physical attack or conventional ninjutsu at an enemy, she can effectively control the space around her. Sarada can adjust the intensity of the gravitational force and selectively determine what will be pulled toward the spheres. That degree of precision makes Ohirume feel less like a standard jutsu and more like Sarada is carrying an arsenal of miniature black holes into battle.

The technique becomes even more interesting because Sarada can use the spheres for movement. When she targets a living being, the gravitational force also affects her own body. By carefully manipulating the positions of the spheres, she can balance those forces to remain suspended in the air and fly at extremely high speeds.
However, the technique comes with one major weakness. Ohirume consumes an enormous amount of chakra, while repeated use of the Mangekyo Sharingan continues to take a serious toll on Sarada’s eyesight. Like other Mangekyo Sharingan users, she faces the risk of eventually losing her vision permanently. This drawback places a much-needed limitation on the ability, preventing Sarada from continuously creating black hole-like spheres without paying an enormous price.
In One Piece, Blackbeard’s Devil Fruit possesses a similarly terrifying gravitational power.

The comparison with Blackbeard becomes particularly clear when looking at the Yami Yami no Mi. Marshall D. Teach’s Devil Fruit in One Piece allows him to create and manipulate darkness, but this darkness is far from ordinary. It possesses an overwhelming gravitational force capable of pulling everything into the void and can even nullify the Devil Fruit abilities of other users.
That is precisely why Ohirume feels strangely familiar. Sarada creates black spheres that drag targets toward them with tremendous force, while Blackbeard uses darkness itself as the source of his powerful attraction. Although the mechanics behind their abilities are different, both transform dark, black-colored energy into an overwhelming pulling force capable of dragging in and consuming their enemies.
Of course, there are still significant differences between the two powers. The Yami Yami no Mi goes far beyond gravitational attraction, with arguably its most valuable ability being its power to nullify an opponent’s Devil Fruit abilities.
Sarada’s Ohirume, meanwhile, focuses on controlling gravitational spheres. The technique gives her a versatile tool that can be used for offense, defense and highly flexible movement across the battlefield.
