While she was alive, between 2018 and 2019, Sulli was involved in charitable work in South Korea. Through the variety program Jinri Market, she planned a project to support girls from low-income families, preparing 100,000 packages of organic sanitary pads while encouraging people to reject the stigma and shame surrounding menstruation.
Before everything could be fully carried out, Sulli passed away on October 14, 2019, at just 25 years old. In South Korea, the program’s production team went on to complete the donation of the sanitary products she had prepared.
Afterward, her fans continued the charitable work she had begun. Fan organizations in China carried on the late idol’s kindness, continuing charity projects in Sulli’s name for girls living in rural areas across the country. They donated menstrual hygiene products and organized classes teaching young girls about puberty and reproductive health.
Even today, some of the children who received help still send letters thanking Sulli. Unable to bring themselves to shatter the children’s beautiful image of her, those behind the projects have chosen not to proactively tell them that the “big sister Sulli” who helped them is no longer here.
Death is not the end. Everything truly ends only when someone is forgotten.
