Lisa has released the music video for “SaWaDiKa,” a solo single that places her Thai heritage at the center of its visual concept.
Released Sept. 3, the song serves as the lead track from Lisa’s upcoming EP, “Press Play.” The video was filmed in Bangkok and directed by Korean filmmaker Bang Jae Yeob.
One of the video’s main locations is Bangkok’s historic Hua Lamphong railway station. The setting gives the visual a strong connection to Thailand while providing a dramatic backdrop for Lisa’s performance.
The location also creates a contrast with Lisa’s earlier solo work. Her 2024 single “Rockstar” used Bangkok’s Yaowarat Road and Chinatown as important parts of its visual identity. “SaWaDiKa” shifts the focus to Hua Lamphong and presents another recognizable part of the city to an international audience.
The video incorporates Thai cultural references throughout the production. Teaser imagery included Muay Thai-inspired styling and a blue-and-red tuk-tuk.
Lisa also wears designs associated with Thai fashion, bringing local textiles and craftsmanship into the video’s international pop setting.
The title “SaWaDiKa” is based on “sawatdee ka,” the Thai greeting for “hello.” The promotional campaign used the phrase “HELLO สวัสดีค่ะ,” linking the English greeting with its Thai equivalent.
Billboards and outdoor displays appeared in Bangkok, New York, Los Angeles and Mexico City before the single’s release. The campaign helped establish the song’s Thai identity before fans saw the complete video.
The video received a rapid response online. Reports indicated that it passed approximately 1.9 million views during its first two hours on YouTube and exceeded 22 million views later on release day.
Those figures represent separate milestones as the video continued to accumulate views throughout the day.
Fan interest had already grown during the teaser campaign. Lisa’s supporters reacted to the song’s title, Bangkok locations and Thai-inspired visuals before the official music video premiered.
“SaWaDiKa” also begins a new stage of Lisa’s solo career following her 2025 debut album, “Alter Ego.” The upcoming “Press Play” EP will include six tracks and is scheduled for release Oct. 23 through RCA Records.
Lisa has not yet revealed the full tracklist.
The singer is also preparing for additional solo activities. Her documentary, “Always Lalisa,” is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, while her first solo concert residency, “Viva La Lisa,” is set to take place at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
With “SaWaDiKa,” Lisa combines global pop production with recognizable elements from Thailand. The result is a music video designed to introduce her latest solo era through place, language, fashion and cultural identity.
