Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon will reveal the group’s dorm where she has lived for nearly 19 years since her debut. Even after all of her members moved out to their own homes, Hyoyeon has continued living there alone, and the special relationship she shares with the dorm’s longtime housekeeper will also be revealed.

The preview for next week’s episode of MBC’s Omniscient Interfering View, which aired on August 29, featured a glimpse into Hyoyeon’s daily life. In particular, viewers became curious about why she continues to live in the dorm by herself even after all the other members had moved out.
Ahead of her first appearance on Omniscient Interfering View, Hyoyeon also shared her members’ reactions. She recalled, “Sooyoung said, ‘That’s a place where famous people appear. Why are you going there?’ So I just told her, ‘You’re being ridiculous,’” drawing laughter.

Just as notable as her long-term dorm life is Hyoyeon’s relationship with the dorm’s housekeeper. The two reportedly first met when Hyoyeon was in high school and have remained together for 21 years. The housekeeper expressed her deep affection for Hyoyeon, saying, “She’s like my daughter. The day you quit will be the day I quit, too.”
Hyoyeon has previously revealed the reason she has stayed at the dorm for so long on several occasions. Appearing on JTBC’s Please Take Care of My Refrigerator in April, she explained that although her family home is in Songdo, living at the dorm makes it easier to manage her daily schedule. She described the dorm as a “comfortable sanctuary,” adding, “They always make sure I have food so I don’t go hungry. There’s nowhere better than this.”

She shared a similar story on the YouTube channel Halmyungsoo that same day. Hyoyeon said the biggest advantages of the dorm were being able to rest comfortably and having meals provided. She also revealed a more practical reason for staying there long-term, saying, “I believe saving money is the only way to survive.” Hyoyeon explained, “When I first signed a contract with SM, they said they would take care of me like a ‘second mother,’ and they’ve continued to look after me even now. That’s why I want to stay.” She also candidly admitted, “Sometimes, when I don’t have any income, I wonder if I should really be staying here,” sharing her honest feelings about her unusual long-term living arrangement.
Born in 1989, Hyoyeon debuted as a member of Girls’ Generation in 2007. The group went on to achieve massive success with hit songs including “Into the New World,” “Gee,” and “Genie.” Nearly 19 years into her career, Hyoyeon continues to remain active as both a solo singer and television personality. Recently, Hyoyeon formed a new unit called “HyoRiSoo” with Girls’ Generation members Yuri and Sooyoung. The trio is set to release their first digital single, “Skibidi,” at 6 p.m. on August 31 and begin their new activities together.
Hyoyeon’s life in the group dorm, along with behind-the-scenes details about HyoRiSoo’s debut, will be revealed on MBC’s Omniscient Interfering View at 11:10 p.m. on September 5.
