On August 25, Song Kang appeared on the YouTube program Salon Drip hosted by TEO, where he talked about his military experience and the friendships he made during his service.
Song Kang, who was discharged from the military in October last year, described his time in the army as surprisingly enjoyable. Despite many of his fellow soldiers being around 10 years younger than him, he said they got along well and often spent their free time together.

Song Kang explained that his group would make the most of their weekday outings by visiting several places together. “We’d have lunch at a PC bang, make bets while bowling, eat, and then go to a sauna,” he said.

When asked whether he usually paid for the meals, Song Kang jokingly replied, “Do I have to pay for everything?” before admitting that he had treated his younger fellow soldiers to meals many times. The lighthearted exchange drew laughter from host Jang Do-yeon.

Song Kang also addressed a photo of himself with BTS’ V that previously attracted attention online. The actor revealed that the two became close while serving in the military. “We became friends in the military,” Song Kang explained, adding that they were stationed within the same corps but had different roles.
According to Song Kang, V served in the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the Military Police, while Song Kang served as a regular soldier. The two eventually connected through an acquaintance and began coordinating their leave dates so they could meet outside the base. “We matched our weekday leave dates and had meals together,” Song Kang said. “We also went to PC bangs quite often.”

Their outings were not limited to meals and gaming together. Song Kang revealed that V’s team members and soldiers from his own unit would sometimes play games together at a PC bang.
When Jang Do-yeon asked who usually paid when Song Kang and V went out together, Song Kang laughed and admitted, “He did.” He then added that he also paid on several occasions, particularly after losing bowling bets to V. The casual story offered fans a rare glimpse into the friendship between the two stars, who happened to serve in the same corps during their mandatory military service.

Meanwhile, Song Kang is preparing to return to the small screen with tvN’s upcoming weekend drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas. The new series, starring Song Kang, is scheduled to premiere on August 29.
With Song Kang’s latest military anecdotes revealing an unexpected friendship with BTS’ V, fans are also looking forward to seeing the actor begin his next chapter following his discharge from the military.
