Lee Do Hyun and Kim Min Ha are teaming up for the new romance film Viva La Vida, with production officially beginning on August 19.
The film follows two young people facing difficult moments in their lives. Lee Do Hyun plays Tae Yang, an unusual young man preparing for his final days, while Kim Min Ha stars as Woo Ri, a woman holding on to hope as she waits for a miracle.
The production team also shared photos from the script reading, giving fans an early look at the two leads together. Their first meeting for the project has already drawn attention as they take on a story filled with love, pain, and hope.
“Viva La Vida” centers on Woo Ri, who feels as if she has no future, and Tae Yang, who unexpectedly promises to give her one. Their lives change after an unexpected proposal brings them together.
Lee Do Hyun will portray Tae Yang, a character very different from the roles he has played before. Tae Yang is described as eccentric and impulsive, yet he approaches Woo Ri with a promise that could change both of their lives, Soompi reported.
Kim Min Ha plays Woo Ri, who continues to endure a harsh reality while waiting for something that might give her a reason to keep going. The role is expected to show another side of Kim Min Ha’s acting as she handles the character’s deeper emotions.
Lee Do Hyun and Kim Min Ha Begin New Film
The two actors’ different styles could make their pairing one of the most interesting parts of the film. Their characters begin from difficult places, but their relationship gives the story its hopeful center.
According to AllKPop, Director Park Dan Hee is leading the project. She is known for “Weak Hero Class 1” and “Tastefully Yours.”
For “Viva La Vida,” Park plans to balance the serious story with the warmer and more lovable sides of its two main characters. Her direction will focus on the small emotional changes that happen as Tae Yang and Woo Ri grow closer.
The film is based on the Chinese movie “Viva La Vida.” The Korean version will tell its own story through the performances of Lee Do Hyun and Kim Min Ha.
Lee Do Hyun has built a wide range of credits, including “18 Again,” “Sweet Home,” “Youth of May,” “The Glory,” and “The Good Bad Mother.” He also made his film debut in “Exhuma” in 2024.
Kim Min Ha became widely known through Apple TV+’s “Pachinko,” where she played young Sunja. She later appeared in projects such as “Light Shop,” “Way Back Love,” and “Typhoon Family.”
