Fans around the world were left emotional after seeing TWICE’s Sana break down in tears during the group’s final concert of their THIS IS FOR world tour.
Sana Bursts Into Tears While Performing

On the evening of July 12, TWICE wrapped up the final Seoul show of their THIS IS FOR world tour at KSPO Dome. The concert concluded the group’s three consecutive sold-out performances in the Korean capital, held from July 10 to 12. However, the moment that spread across social media after the show wasn’t a spectacular performance it was Sana’s emotional tears.
According to numerous fan-recorded videos, Sana suddenly became overwhelmed with emotion as What Is Love? began playing. Although she continued performing with the rest of the group, tears streamed down her face throughout the song. She repeatedly covered her face, wiped away her tears, and quickly returned to the choreography without missing her place.
The touching moment resonated with fans because Sana kept smiling through her tears while trying to give the audience her best performance. At one point, she briefly turned away to compose herself before continuing to sing and interact with the other members. Once the rest of TWICE noticed her emotions, they naturally gathered around her on stage to offer quiet support.
Within hours, clips of Sana crying had gone viral across social media. Many fans said they were especially moved to see one of TWICE’s brightest and most energetic members unable to hold back her emotions as the group’s nearly year-long tour came to an end. Even with red eyes filled with tears, viewers remarked that Sana remained breathtakingly beautiful during the heartfelt moment.

The Seoul concert marked not only the end of TWICE’s performances in Korea but also the conclusion of the THIS IS FOR world tour. Beginning in July 2025, the tour spanned 44 cities and featured a total of 81 concerts over the course of 359 days. Throughout the year, the nine members traveled continuously across Asia, North America, Europe, and several other regions.
The North American leg alone attracted approximately 550,000 concertgoers. In Japan, TWICE once again demonstrated their enormous popularity by filling stadium venues, including three concerts at Tokyo National Stadium that drew an estimated 240,000 fans around 80,000 attendees each night.

Following the Seoul finale, TWICE officially completed their demanding 359-day touring schedule and is expected to take a break for the remainder of the year before returning with new projects. Sana’s emotional moment—wiping away tears before rejoining the formation has already become one of the defining images marking the end of the tour.
The TWICE Member Known for Her Bright Smile and Tender Heart
Born in Osaka, Japan, in 1996, Sana moved to South Korea as a teenager to train under JYP Entertainment before competing on the survival program Sixteen. In October 2015, she officially debuted as a member of TWICE alongside Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
Just months after debuting, Sana became one of the group’s most recognizable members thanks to her iconic “shy shy shy” line in Cheer Up. The memorable phrase quickly became a viral sensation, referenced by celebrities and television programs alike, helping TWICE cement its place as one of Asia’s biggest girl groups.

Known for her expressive facial expressions, vibrant stage presence, and effortless ability to switch between cute and charismatic concepts, Sana has also earned international recognition for her visuals, appearing multiple times on TC Candler’s annual list of the World’s Most Beautiful Faces.
Outside of TWICE, Sana is also active as part of the Japanese subunit MISAMO alongside Mina and Momo. The trio has released original music and promoted extensively in Japan. Sana has also become a familiar face at global fashion events, luxury brand campaigns, and international advertising projects.
Her personal Instagram account now boasts more than 12.8 million followers, with her fashion updates, behind-the-scenes content, and everyday moments regularly generating millions of interactions and maintaining her strong individual popularity.

Despite her cheerful public image, longtime fans know Sana as one of TWICE’s most emotional members. She has openly shed tears on numerous occasions while talking about her fellow members, ONCEs, or meaningful milestones throughout the group’s career. The members themselves have often joked that Sana can go from laughing to crying in an instant whenever emotions run high. For that reason, while her tears during the Seoul concert touched countless fans, ONCEs were not entirely surprised to see her wear her heart on her sleeve once again.
Alongside the emotional conclusion of the world tour, TWICE’s contract renewal discussions with JYP Entertainment have also become a major topic among fans. The agency has confirmed that all nine members are currently engaged in positive discussions regarding the group’s future. Although speculation about each member’s individual plans continues to circulate, JYP stated that official announcements will be made once the negotiations are finalized.
