Kim Nam Gil is drawing attention online after posting a mysterious message on Instagram just as he prepares for two major acting projects.
On June 29, the actor uploaded photos and videos of a dark seaside view along with a long excerpt from the song “Poison” by Primary featuring E SENS.
According to AllKPop, the post included emotional lyrics such as, “As time passes, poison builds up inside my body,” and “These days, my desire to be free is much stronger than before.”
Kim Nam Gil did not add a caption or explanation, leading fans to wonder about the meaning behind the post. Many noted that sharing such personal lyrics without comment is unusual for the actor, who normally keeps his social media updates simple.
Some fans connected the post to the pressure of his upcoming comeback projects. However, there is no evidence that the message reflects a personal problem or emotional struggle.
The timing of the upload has become a major talking point because Kim Nam Gil is preparing to return to both film and television at the same time.
Kim Nam Gil Transforms Into Royal Prince
In the upcoming historical film Canvas of Blood, Kim Nam Gil plays Grand Prince Suyang, a royal figure driven by ambition and political power.
The movie takes inspiration from the famous Joseon-era painting “Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land” and imagines the conflict that grows between two royal brothers after the artwork is created.
Park Bo Gum stars opposite Kim Nam Gil as Grand Prince Anpyeong, who represents art and idealism. Actor Lee Hyun Wook also joins the cast as painter An Gyeon.
At the same time, Kim Nam Gil is preparing for his return to SBS through the sci-fi thriller Nightmare. The drama marks his first SBS series in about two years, since “The Fiery Priest 2.”
Set in a world where technology can enter human dreams, “Nightmare” follows a vigilante group that punishes criminals by trapping them inside terrifying nightmares instead of prison cells.
Kim Nam Gil stars as Detective Kim Tae Yi, a violent crimes detective who returns after years of undercover work, Soompi reported.
Unlike typical detective characters, Kim Tae Yi fights with a sword instead of a gun while investigating cases connected to dream-manipulation technology.
The drama also stars Lee Yoo Mi as Jang Gyu Eun, a police officer who secretly becomes an “architect of nightmares” inside dreams.
