Chinese authorities have announced the detention of entertainer and entrepreneur Huang Zitao following a traffic violation incident involving his luxury vehicle.
According to Sohu on June 19, Beijing traffic police confirmed that Huang Zitao and his vehicle were temporarily detained for investigation after violating traffic regulations. The incident reportedly occurred while the former EXO member was driving his Lamborghini with his wife, Xu Yiyang, on their way to dinner and a gathering with friends.
In an official statement, traffic authorities explained that Huang had parked the vehicle in a lane designated for non-motorized transportation, obstructing both pedestrians and other vehicles. Witnesses reportedly photographed and recorded the improperly parked Lamborghini before contacting police.
After receiving reports from the public and reviewing video evidence that had circulated online through paparazzi accounts, officers arrived at the scene and detained Huang Zitao while also impounding the vehicle for further investigation.

During the inspection, authorities allegedly discovered that the convertible Lamborghini had undergone a color change without completing the required registration procedures. As a result, Beijing traffic police determined that Huang committed three violations: illegal parking, failure to comply with traffic restrictions, and modifying the vehicle’s exterior color without proper authorization.
The former idol was fined a total of 2,500 yuan.
News of the incident quickly spread across Chinese social media platforms. Many netizens criticized Huang, arguing that despite owning a Lamborghini worth approximately 10 million yuan, he failed to demonstrate proper awareness of traffic laws and public responsibility.
As criticism mounted online, Huang Zitao issued an apology through his studio. The singer acknowledged his mistake in parking illegally and causing inconvenience to traffic. He also addressed rumors circulating online, clarifying that he had only changed the vehicle’s exterior color and had not made any unauthorized modifications to the engine.

Born in 1993, Huang Zitao debuted as a member of K-pop sensation EXO under the stage name Tao at the age of 19. He left the group in 2015 following a dispute with his former agency, SM Entertainment, and later returned to China to pursue a career as a singer, actor, and entertainment executive. He eventually established his own company, L.TAO Entertainment.
Huang is also known for his wealthy family background. He is the son of the late businessman Huang Zhongdong, who reportedly owned assets valued at approximately $3 billion and several large land properties in Qingdao. Following his father’s passing in 2020, Huang inherited the family fortune, leading Chinese media to frequently describe him as one of the wealthiest idols in the entertainment industry.
In October 2025, Huang Zitao married singer and actress Xu Yiyang. The couple is also rumored to have welcomed their first child, although they have not publicly confirmed the reports. Their relationship has often been compared to a real-life romance novel, as Xu Yiyang was originally signed under L.TAO Entertainment, where Huang serves as founder and chairman. Their love story evolved from a professional relationship into one of the most talked-about celebrity romances in Chinese entertainment.
