On May 12, the YouTube channel Dolphiners Films uploaded a new advertisement featuring Ji Chang Wook as the face of a mobile telecommunications brand.
In the video, the actor is first seen walking seriously through an airport while pulling a suitcase. After confidently declaring, “Alright, the trip begins now,” he suddenly transforms into a comic-book-style character.
Wearing a Superman-like cape, Ji Chang Wook dramatically rides his suitcase before getting sucked into a smartphone screen, shouting exaggerated battle cries along the way. Throughout the commercial, he fully commits to over-the-top movements and intentionally ridiculous comedic acting, leaving viewers laughing at the unexpected transformation.
The advertisement quickly spread online and surpassed 100,000 views as of May 14. Korean netizens flooded the comment section with enthusiastic reactions, praising Ji Chang Wook for completely embracing the bizarre concept.

Some comments included:
- “Even Ji Chang Wook works this hard. I should reflect on my own life.”
- “The advertising impact is definitely strong.”
- “This commercial actually made me like him even more.”
One of the biggest talking points came when South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs joined the fun through its official social media account. The agency jokingly commented, “For safety reasons, please lower the volume of your battle cries when transforming at the airport.” The witty response drew even more attention to the commercial online.
As the ad continued gaining popularity, Ji Chang Wook personally addressed the reactions through a fan communication platform on May 13.
The actor shared, “A lot of people I know have been contacting me because of the commercial.” He then revealed a hilarious story about one close acquaintance who asked him, “Did something happen to you recently?” after watching the ad, causing fans to burst into laughter.
Meanwhile, after showcasing a completely different side of himself through the wildly comedic commercial, Ji Chang Wook is now preparing for a major international appearance. The actor is expected to walk the red carpet at the 79th Cannes Film Festival with director Yeon Sang Ho’s upcoming project Colony.
