Rain surprised listeners by revealing that he nearly underwent cosmetic surgery before his debut.
The singer and actor appeared as a guest on Escape at 2PM Cultwo Show on May 13, where he shared a humorous behind-the-scenes story from his trainee days under J. Y. Park.
During the broadcast, Rain responded to comments calling him one of the male celebrities best suited for monolid eyes.

“I actually thought about getting double-eyelid surgery in the past,” he admitted.
According to Rain, J.Y. Park suggested cosmetic procedures because his eyes often appeared swollen during his early trainee years.
Rain recalled: “Park Jin Young hyung told me before debut that I should get double-eyelid surgery and even pull my ears back a little.”
The artist explained that he actually visited a clinic and seriously considered the procedures.

However, the consultation took an unexpected turn when the plastic surgeon reportedly advised against any changes. “The doctor said, ‘He should never do this. Those eyes and ears are worth a million dollars. If you touch the eyes, you’ll have to change the jaw, nose, and mouth too. The balance is perfect now.’”
Rain praised the doctor’s honesty, noting that cosmetic clinics usually benefit financially from performing procedures.
“From the hospital’s perspective, surgery means business, so it couldn’t have been easy to say that,” he added.
Rain first debuted in 1998 as part of the group Fanclub before later training under JYP Entertainment.
He officially launched his solo career in 2002 and went on to become one of the defining Korean stars of the 2000s, building successful careers in both music and acting.
In 2008, Rain established his own agency, RAIN Company, marking his transition into independent management.
Most recently, he appeared in the Netflix series Bloodhounds 2, which premiered last month.
