On March 29, V appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel “Fairy Jaehyung” hosted by Jung Jae-hyung, where he opened up about the group’s early struggles and growth.
During the conversation, the host brought up BTS’s debut in 2013 and noted that their explosive popularity didn’t come overnight. He referenced the period leading up to their breakthrough with “Fire” (불타오르네), highlighting how it took several years for the group to gain significant recognition.
V then shared a touching memory from those early days. “I think around 25 to 30 people came to our first fan meeting,” he recalled. “It was actually more than the number of members we had, so we were really happy. We were so touched that people came just to see us.”

The comment struck a chord with fans, offering a glimpse into a time when the now world-famous group performed for just a handful of supporters.
Following that period, BTS’s career trajectory changed dramatically. After the release of “Fire,” the group began topping charts, including achieving No.1 on Japan’s Oricon chart, signaling the start of their global rise.

Reflecting on their success, V emphasized that the group itself hadn’t fundamentally changed. “We just kept doing what we always did,” he said. “It was the fans who spread the word and made us known.”
The story serves as a reminder of BTS’s journey—from performing in front of a few dozen fans to becoming one of the biggest acts in the world—and highlights the deep bond they continue to share with their fandom, ARMY.
