They talked about it in a recent interview.
After almost four years, BTS finally made their return to the industry as a septet on March 20, KST, with their new album ARIRANG.

While the group has been on a hiatus while the members fulfilled their mandatory military duties, each of them carried out solo promotions, showcasing their individual colors as artists. With all seven members successfully cementing their footing as soloists in the industry, many wondered if the biggest boy group in the world would prefer to pursue the solo path more.
On the occasion of ARIRANG‘s release, BTS sat down with Bloomberg for an in-depth interview, during which they addressed the “solo versus group” question once again. The interviewer asked, “Did the success of any of your solo work make you guys reconsider coming back?” V had a rather shocking response: “If anyone was that shameless, I would hit them.”

Jin and Suga also addressed the question, leaving no room for doubt about how all seven members prioritize group activities over anything else.
Interviewer: Did the success of any of your solo work make you guys reconsider coming back? Did you think, okay, now I’m just going to go be a solo act?
V: If anyone was that shameless, I would hit them.
Jin: It’s less of whether our solo albums do better or the group albums do better. We just love doing group promotions more.
Suga: And it was only because we couldn’t be as a full group that we did our solo activities.
This unexpectedly blunt response from the members has touched ARMYs and reassured them yet again about BTS’s real-life bonding.
