Psychiatrist and television personality Yang Jae Woong, who is currently on trial in connection with a patient death case, has been ordered to undergo supplementary investigation as the case continues to develop.
According to a media report on March 9, the victim’s family was notified of the update through a “Criminal Justice Information System work notification” text message sent on March 6.
The request for additional investigation relates to charges of professional negligence resulting in death. It applies not only to Yang Jae Woong but also to seven other hospital staff members who are standing trial alongside him.

In addition to the supplementary investigation order, Yang Jae Woong is facing several other allegations, including violations of the Mental Health Promotion and Welfare of Persons with Mental Illness Act, the Medical Service Act, and the Emergency Medical Service Act.
Amid the ongoing legal proceedings, the victim’s family has reportedly suffered severe emotional distress. The victim’s father is said to have lost vision in one eye due to stress related to the case.
Meanwhile, Yang Jae Woong had previously been scheduled to marry singer and actress Hani in September 2024. However, the wedding plans were postponed indefinitely after the news emerged that a patient had died at the hospital where Yang serves as director.
The controversy intensified when it became known that the couple had announced their marriage around the same period the patient died, drawing public scrutiny.
Yang Jae Woong’s hospital has since been handed a suspension of operations until March 31 as authorities continue their investigation into the case.
Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding her fiancé, Hani has continued with her professional activities. She has been confirmed as the female lead in the upcoming KBS2 weekend drama Love Comes, which is scheduled to premiere in August.
