The Gangnam Police is currently investigating the incident.
According to an MBN investigation, well-known veteran actor Lee Jae Ryong was arrested after crashing into a road median in Gangnam, Seoul, and fleeing the scene.
The actor reportedly hit a central divider while driving near Samseong Jungang Station on Seoul Subway Line 9 at around 2 AM on March 7, 2026 (KST), then drove away without stopping.
After the incident, Lee Jae Ryong reportedly parked his vehicle at home and went to a friend’s house, where he was later apprehended by police. A breathalyzer test conducted afterward reportedly showed that his blood alcohol level was high enough to warrant a license suspension. The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul is currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Lee Jae Ryong already comes with numerous DUI scandals.
In March 2003, he caused an accident while driving under the influence and had his license revoked after refusing a breathalyzer test. He was accused of crashing into the side of a taxi while driving his actress wife Yoo Ho Jung‘s Mercedes sedan. At first, he insisted he had not been driving and firmly refused the breathalyzer test. However, after being taken to the Gangnam Police Station, he eventually admitted to drunk driving.
Then, in June 2019, he was again involved in an alcohol-related incident and received a suspended indictment on charges of property damage after destroying a standing sign while severely intoxicated. He was accused of damaging a bowling alley sign in Gangnam, causing about ₩500,000 KRW (about $337 USD) in damages. Possibly due to the aftermath of that incident, he has not appeared in any productions since the 2019 JTBC K-Drama, Chocolate.
