Recently, hair artist Cha Cha (Cha Jong Hyun), who is in charge of BLACKPINK, Sunmi, and (G)I-DLE’s hair styling, appeared on the YouTube channel Workers High and spoke about Rosé’s long-running blonde transformation.
“Rosé has maintained blonde hair for about 7 years,” he shared. “Once every two weeks.” He explained that bleaching and dyeing are done on a strict biweekly schedule to keep the color flawless from root to tip.
Cha admitted he once suggested extending the interval for the sake of her scalp and hair health. He recalled telling her, “For your hair and scalp health, shouldn’t we take a bit more time?” However, Rosé responded firmly that as a public figure, how she is seen by the public is more important to her than concerns about damage.
After hearing that, Cha said he had nothing more to argue and instead focused on minimizing harm through technique. “The bleaching products can be similar everywhere, but I have my own recipe,” he explained, adding that he has developed a method to reduce patchiness and lessen damage while achieving the bright blonde shade Rosé is known for. Even if revealed, he said, it would not be easy to replicate.
The most surprising detail was his travel routine. Every two weeks, Cha flies to wherever Rosé is staying — including Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Paris — for same-day appointments. He described arriving in the morning, reaching her hotel around noon, having lunch, and then spending three to four hours on bleaching and dyeing. Afterward, he returns to his hotel briefly before heading back to the airport that same evening.
“It takes almost twelve hours to get to L.A., but I stay in the United States for less than twelve hours,” he said, adding that trips to Paris take around fourteen hours. The repeated long-haul flights even caused pelvic and tailbone issues due to the strain.
When Cha mentioned how physically exhausting the day trips were, Rosé reportedly arranged business-class tickets for him — even for one-day schedules. He emphasized that the gesture was not simply about money, but about consideration and care, saying it reflected her thoughtfulness toward the people she works with.
For seven years, Rosé’s blonde hair has become one of her most recognizable trademarks in K-pop. Behind the polished image lies not only technical expertise, but also a level of commitment that underscores the professionalism sustaining her global career.
