On February 14, Netflix released Single’s Inferno Reunion, a special episode featuring the cast of Single’s Inferno Season 5. The reunion captured the honest and unfiltered behind-the-scenes stories that continued even after filming wrapped.
Watching his own scenes through the VCR footage, Kim Jae Jin candidly shared, “It feels like I’m watching my private life being filmed. I didn’t even think about the cameras—I was completely sincere. Rather than feeling fluttery, I feel embarrassed. It’s embarrassing to watch myself. It feels like something only I knew about has been exposed.” Lee Joo Young echoed his sentiments, saying, “I’m a bit embarrassed too, but I was really sincere. It’s nice to watch it again. Even if I went back, I think I would’ve said the same things.”
Fellow cast member Youn Hyeon Jae reflected on their natural chemistry, commenting, “I didn’t realize the two of them were that comfortable and in sync. I wondered what kind of wall I was knocking on.” Lee Ha Eun agreed, adding that it felt like trying to break through a wall that would never budge.
Youn Hyeon Jae further remarked, “I realized Joo Young was someone who could express herself that much. I thought, ‘That must be her real match. I must’ve been looking at the wrong address.’”
During Single’s Inferno 5, Kim Jae Jin and Lee Joo Young ultimately became the final couple. Reflecting on his experience, Kim Jae Jin said, “I was more honest than I expected. It was a precious time. Looking back, the fact that I spent time with people I could never meet anywhere else makes it even more meaningful.”
Lee Joo Young also shared her thoughts, saying, “I wondered if I would ever experience something like this again in my life. I think I could talk about this story forever and never get bored. It became such a good memory.”
The most pressing question, however, was whether they continued dating after the show. When asked, “Did you go on a date with Jae Jin after the show ended?” Lee Joo Young revealed, “After we left, we actually went out for ice cream. We went almost immediately after filming ended. It still felt like we were filming. He came to see my exhibition, and we’ve been steadily keeping in touch and doing well.”
Kim Jae Jin confirmed, “We’re doing well. When I have performances, Joo Young comes to watch. When she has exhibitions, I go see them. We stay in contact, meet up, and are doing well.”
Lee Joo Young added with a smile, “Even after we left, we said, ‘Let’s see each other for a long time,’ and ‘Let’s continue to get along well.’ We’re still in contact and doing well. Really.”
When told that many viewers were curious about their current relationship, Kim Jae Jin responded carefully, “To those who are curious about us—after leaving the island, I thought I wanted to get to know Joo Young more seriously. We developed good feelings back then, so we should continue getting to know each other and see how things go.”
