Actor Lee Chae Min has confirmed his next project, joining hands with director Kim Hee Won of Queen of Tears for the upcoming drama My Reason to Die.
According to reports on February 12, Lee Chae Min will take on the lead role in the drama adaptation of the popular webtoon of the same name, directed by Kim Hee Won. He is set to portray Cha Gyeol, one of the central characters in the story.
My Reason to Die is a regression romance that follows Ji Oh, a high school senior preparing for the national Taekwondo team trials, and Cha Gyeol, a mysterious and captivating figure. The original webtoon gained significant popularity during its serialization for its delicate portrayal of emotional development between the male and female leads.

This project marks Lee Chae Min’s first collaboration with director Kim Hee Won, who has been widely praised for her refined storytelling in dramas such as Vincenzo, Little Women, and as co-director of the hit series Queen of Tears. With Lee currently considered one of the industry’s rising stars, anticipation is high for the synergy between the actor and the accomplished director.
Lee Chae Min demonstrated his growing star power last year through the tvN drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, where he stepped in on short notice following Park Sung Hoon’s departure. Despite the sudden casting change, Lee delivered a stable and compelling performance, helping drive the drama’s popularity and leaving a strong impression on viewers.

Following that success, he reportedly received dozens of casting offers, further solidifying his reputation as an actor who combines both talent and market appeal. He is also set to appear in the upcoming Netflix variety show Take A Hike, scheduled for release in the third quarter of this year, showcasing his versatility beyond acting.
Lee Chae Min made his debut in 2021 with the tvN drama High Class and has since appeared in Crash Course in Romance, See You in My 19th Life, Hierarchy, and Crushology 101. He won the Best New Actor award at the 11th APAN Star Awards for his performances in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty and Crushology 101, continuing his steady rise in the industry.
