On the February 11 broadcast of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, Shin Se Kyung appeared as a guest and opened up about her academic past and personality.
Host Yoo Jae Suk brought up her student years, saying, “I heard that during middle school, you were always in the top 10 of your entire grade, and that you studied English on your own.”
He continued by mentioning her recent overseas filming experience for the movie Humint, sharing an anecdote: “During overseas shoots, Shin Se Kyung even acted as an interpreter. Jo In Sung reportedly said he was so grateful he wanted to slip her some money.” Yoo Jae Suk then added, “You have an image of being very capable and sharp in everything you do. What are you actually like?”
In response, Shin Se Kyung revealed a more cautious side of herself.
“I’m actually very timid in many ways,” she said. “I’m the type who taps on a stone bridge repeatedly and still decides not to cross it. I only take safe paths. I’m always careful with my words and actions, and when I speak, I tend to cushion my statements a lot.”
Yoo Jae Suk laughed and agreed, referencing how she often adds qualifiers such as, “This may not be accurate since it’s from my childhood memory,” or “This is just my personal opinion.” He commented, “In our line of work, no matter how careful you are, unexpected situations can still happen,” expressing empathy toward her cautious personality.
Known for her composed image and articulate speech, Shin Se Kyung once again impressed viewers—not only with her academic background but also with her thoughtful and prudent attitude toward her career.
