BLACKPINK member Jennie has purchased a building in Dongbinggo-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, for 20 billion won (approximately $13.8 million), with the transaction reportedly made entirely in cash.
The purchase took place in May 2025, and Jennie completed the ownership transfer in December of the same year, according to data from South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The real estate registry shows no mortgage attached to the property, confirming that the full amount was paid without any loans.
The building is located in the northern part of Dongbinggo-dong, a densely populated area with foreign embassy residences, including the embassies of Hungary and Libya. The property itself previously served as the Embassy of Iraq in South Korea before the embassy relocated to nearby Hannam-dong, according to chosun.
Built in 1970, the structure consists of two floors above ground and one basement level, sitting on a land area of 595 square meters with a total floor area of 551 square meters. Of the 20 billion won ($13.8 million) purchase price, roughly 19.8 billion won ($13.6 million) was attributed to the land, and about 100 million won ($70,000) to the building itself.
The Dongbinggo area is currently undergoing large-scale redevelopment. It sits near the Hannam New Town project, Seoul’s largest redevelopment zone spanning over 1.1 million square meters and set to deliver approximately 12,000 new households, the Korea JoongAng Daily reported.
The nearby Yongsan Park development is also expected to raise property values in the district. Real estate analysts see the area as one of the most promising investment zones in Seoul, with the potential to rival Gangnam as the city’s top residential district.
This is not Jennie’s first major real estate move. In July 2023, she purchased a luxury villa unit at La Terrasse Hannam near UN Village for 5 billion won ($3.4 million), also paid entirely in cash. That property features five rooms and three bathrooms across 286 square meters. She also leased an entire building in Hannam-dong for her solo agency, Odd Atelier, with a reported monthly rent exceeding 60 million won ($41.3 million).
Jennie, 30, has built a successful solo career alongside her work with BLACKPINK. Her 2025 album “Ruby” and single “Like Jennie” gained widespread attention, with the latter becoming the most-streamed K-pop song on Spotify in the first half of 2025. BLACKPINK is set to release their third mini album, Deadline, on February 27, marking the group’s first new music in over three years, as per Forbes.
