Actor Lee Sung-min recently opened up about his adult daughter, sharing heartfelt memories and humorous yet honest parenting stories during his appearance on the YouTube channel Pinggyego. During the show, Lee Sung-min revealed that his daughter, who is currently in her final year of college, still shows contrasting behavior depending on whether she is at home or outside. He joked that while she acts mature in public, she behaves like a child at home.
He recalled one moment when he witnessed his daughter speaking politely on the phone with her part-time job boss while the family was eating. Lee Sung-min humorously expressed surprise at her respectful tone, noting that she rarely shows the same level of responsibility at home. He added that despite appearing relaxed at home, she works diligently at her job, carrying stacks of dishes and even helping close the restaurant after shifts before socializing with friends.
Lee Sung-min also reflected on his marriage during a previous appearance on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block in 2023. He shared that his wife initially asked him out, which eventually led to marriage, although she later asked him not to mention that detail publicly. The actor expressed deep gratitude toward his wife for enduring nearly a decade of financial hardship before their situation improved.
Speaking candidly about family life, Lee Sung-min revealed that although his daughter was unplanned, she became a source of happiness for the couple. He recalled struggling financially while raising her, explaining that although he and his wife could endure hardships, they felt guilty that their daughter had to experience them as well.
The actor shared a vivid memory from his mid-30s after moving to Seoul, when money was extremely tight. He remembered buying inexpensive thinly sliced pork belly costing about 1,000 KRW to feed his daughter, who loved meat. Lee Sung-min said he still clearly remembers a moment when the family ate together at a modest restaurant, piling bean sprouts onto the meat to stretch the meal, while silently worrying about their lack of money. He added that he still recalls the gloomy expression on his wife’s face during that time.
Lee Sung-min previously revealed on another variety program that his daughter is majoring in production within the theater and film department and is currently preparing for graduation. He surprised viewers by sharing that he declined her request to appear in her graduation project. When asked if his daughter planned to follow in his footsteps as an actor, Lee Sung-min firmly stated that he had discouraged her from pursuing acting. He explained that just as he advised against it, his wife, who majored in dance, also discouraged their daughter from pursuing dance as a career.
