In an interview with Ilgan Sports on February 5, MC Mong firmly rejected the claims while expressing frustration over the controversy. “It’s not prostitution,” he said emotionally. “One of them is my girlfriend. Who would hire their own girlfriend for prostitution?”
The artist clarified that the man seen in the controversial footage was a younger acquaintance, while among the three women present, one was his girlfriend, another was a friend of his girlfriend, and the third was someone he had met for the first time that day.
MC Mong explained that they had spent about two to three hours together before he abruptly began discussing company matters related to Chairman Cha Ga-won, around the time he decided to step down from his executive role at One Hundred. According to him, the women left the gathering afterward. “I don’t know what jobs they may have had in the past,” he stated. “But is it right to bring up prostitution allegations and talk about my girlfriend like that? Reporting such suspicions itself is malicious.”
The allegations first surfaced through claims introduced on TV Chosun’s program Shintongbangtong, referencing content from a YouTube channel operated by Sunday Journal. The claims were based on elevator CCTV footage from MC Mong’s apartment complex.
The footage reportedly showed three women and one man riding an elevator together. Residents of the apartment had allegedly filed complaints suspecting prostitution activities within the building, prompting the management office to review and release the footage. Some reports claimed the women were hostesses working in the entertainment industry.
MC Mong previously explained to the outlet that the gathering was simply a dinner and wine party with acquaintances. When asked about reports that some women worked in nightlife establishments, he responded, “Working at a bar does not automatically mean someone is involved in prostitution.”
The footage is said to have been recorded before MC Mong stepped down from his position as co-CEO of One Hundred last year. Some claims suggested the incident influenced his resignation, though this remains unconfirmed. MC Mong has recently been at the center of multiple controversies, including rumors of an alleged affair involving Chairman Cha Ga-won of the p Arc Group. The singer has also strongly denied those allegations.
