On January 23, Lee Seung-ju appeared as a guest on a YouTube talk show, where he spoke for the first time about being cheated on by his wife. According to the comedian, the incident began after he moved his family to Goesan County so his children could grow up closer to nature. During that time, his wife began working as an assistant at a real estate office.
Lee Seung-ju explained that his wife’s personality changed dramatically after starting the job. She repeatedly encouraged him to go out and meet friends more often, while her credit card spending suddenly increased two to three times compared to before. When he questioned her about the excessive expenses, she allegedly gaslit him by saying things like, “Are you paranoid?” and “You’re just being overly jealous.”
Over time, Lee Seung-ju realized that her behavioral changes were due to an extramarital relationship. He eventually installed a tracking function on her phone, which led him to discover that she was secretly meeting another man from the real estate industry.
After obtaining evidence of the affair, Lee Seung-ju rushed home and found his wife heavily intoxicated. He recalled that in their 11 years of marriage, it was the first time he had ever seen her drunk to the point of being completely disoriented. During that moment, he uncovered further evidence that left no room for denial.
The comedian, born in 1978, said angrily, “When I checked, her underwear was different from when she left the house. Even after everything had come to this, she cursed at me instead.” He added that when he confronted her about where she had been, she claimed that she was fleeing from his alleged verbal abuse. Lee Seung-ju firmly denied the accusation, stating that his wife had fabricated the story to cover up her affair.
Following the incident, the couple divorced. Lee Seung-ju admitted that the collapse of his family left him mentally devastated. He revealed that he attempted to take his own life six times, but ultimately stopped after his mother tearfully begged him to think about his children. “I looked at myself in the mirror and saw how miserable I looked. That’s when I woke up,” he said, adding that he decided to live for his children’s sake.
After the divorce, Lee Seung-ju worked tirelessly to rebuild his life, taking on multiple jobs including delivery work during the day and other part-time jobs at night, while also working as a YouTuber. His son is currently in the 11th grade, while his daughter is in the 9th grade.
In a surprising turn, Lee Seung-ju has since changed careers and now works as a private investigator specializing in infidelity cases. He explained, “I’m a victim of cheating myself. That’s why I became a private investigator, to catch people who are destroying other families. Many victims contact me for help, and I speak out on their behalf because I understand their pain.”
