The Korean drama scene has just welcomed a new title that’s creating serious buzz—and dividing audiences in the process. While Can This Love Be Translated? continues to trend, the newly launched fantasy romance No Tail to Tell starring Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon is grabbing attention for all the right—and controversial—reasons.

Premiering on January 16, the series quickly sparked both praise and debate. Online reactions have been polarized: some viewers absolutely love it, while others find it hard to connect. Why such a divide? There are two key reasons. First, the female lead breaks away from the usual damsel-in-distress trope—she’s strong, decisive, and not waiting for a male savior. Second, the show employs purposefully exaggerated comedic acting, which not all viewers find appealing.

No Tail to Tell blends romance with fantasy, centering on Eun Ho (Kim Hye Yoon), a nine-tailed fox (gumiho) who grants wishes. After centuries of striving to become human, she suddenly decides to abandon that goal and instead chooses a tightly controlled life—one without emotions or attachments.

Her plan unravels when a freak accident involving football star Kang Si Yeol (played by Lomon) causes her to lose her supernatural powers and turn into a real human. A misfired wish binds these two unlikely characters together, setting off a chaotic yet magical love story where emotional connection starts to override every rule they once lived by.

Leading the drama is Kim Hye Yoon, currently one of the most trusted rising actresses in Korea following her critically acclaimed role in Lovely Runner, which was named one of TIME Magazine’s best dramas of 2024. Her return to the small screen in No Tail to Tell showcases her versatility—portraying a very different kind of character but still impressing with her vibrant, charismatic performance.
Opposite her is Lomon, who continues to charm audiences with his athletic build and strong presence. He’s no stranger to compelling roles, having gained fame through Revenge of Others and All of Us Are Dead. In No Tail to Tell, he embodies the charismatic male lead archetype with ease.
While it’s still early days for No Tail to Tell, and too soon to definitively call it a hit or miss, its first episode offers enough intrigue and chemistry to warrant a watch. With Kim Hye Yoon’s credibility and Lomon’s appeal, this unique rom-com fantasy promises a refreshingly different viewing experience—if you’re open to its quirky style.
