Renowned South Korean actress Kim Ji-mee, widely regarded as the “Elizabeth Taylor of the East,” has passed away at the age of 85 in the United States, SPOTV News reported on December 10.
The Korean Film Actors Association and the Korean Federation of Film Artists confirmed the news, stating that they have begun preparations for a memorial service honoring Kim Ji-mee’s legacy and providing support to her family.

Kim Ji-mee debuted in 1957 and became a leading figure during the 1960s and 1970s, a period considered the golden era of Korean cinema. Her striking beauty and exceptional acting skills earned her a reputation as one of the most influential actresses of her time.
She passed away in the United States after suffering from shingles, which reportedly weakened her health in her later years.
