Actor Park Seo-joon is back in a romance role after seven years, sparking excitement and deep viewer engagement with the JTBC weekend drama ‘Surely Tomorrow’.

The drama’s second episode, aired on December 7, showed Lee Gyeong-do (Park Seo-joon) preventing his first love Seo Ji-woo (Won Ji-an) from leaving the country, continuing their romantic storyline. Episode 2 achieved a 3.6% rating in the Seoul metropolitan area and 3.3% nationwide, up from 2.7% for the premiere (Nielsen Korea, paid households).
‘Surely Tomorrow’ follows Lee Gyeong-do and Seo Ji-woo, who reconnect after past relationships and navigate romantic entanglements while dealing with scandalous news coverage. The drama is directed by Im Hyun-wook (known for Reflection of You, King the Land) and written by Yoo Young-ah (Thirty-Nine, Divorce Attorney Shin).

Park Seo-joon last appeared in a romance role in 2018’s tvN What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?, which achieved a peak rating of 8.7%. Since then, he starred in Netflix’s Gyeongseong Creature series alongside Han So-hee and participated in popular variety shows like Seo-jin’s series and Youn’s Stay.
Notably, past dramas like MBC’s She Was Pretty (2015) and JTBC’s Itaewon Class (2020) achieved nationwide ratings of 18% and 16.5%, respectively, and gained international remakes in countries including Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Despite an 11-year age gap, Park Seo-joon and Won Ji-an’s on-screen chemistry has impressed fans. At the press conference in Seoul on December 4, Park described his character, Lee Gyeong-do, as an ordinary yet sincere journalist in love. He reflected on the challenge of portraying both his character at age 20 and 28, noting the depth and growth in his performance.
Won Ji-an plays Seo Ji-woo, the daughter of a prominent apparel family and Lee Gyeong-do’s first love. She shared that portraying multiple ages was initially daunting but offered a chance for artistic growth. Both actors emphasized mutual support and professionalism in bridging the age difference.

Director Im Hyun-wook, a former entertainment journalist, highlighted the drama’s realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, setting it apart from other romance series. He expressed confidence in the casting and the script, aiming to deliver an authentic and compelling romance narrative.
JTBC’s Surely Tomorrow episode 3 airs on December 13 at 10:40 PM KST.
