Chinese actress Jiang Shuying has once again become a major topic of discussion after reports surfaced on December 4 claiming that she secretly gave birth to her first child abroad during a six-month disappearance from the public eye.
According to Sohu, entertainment insiders revealed that Jiang Shuying allegedly traveled overseas to give birth to a baby girl. Because pregnancy before marriage remains a sensitive issue in Chinese showbiz often affecting a female celebrity’s public image and endorsement value she reportedly chose not to disclose the news.
Sources claim Jiang Shuying chose to stay overseas for over six months after delivering her child, waiting until both she and the baby were healthy, and until she could recover her pre-pregnancy figure to avoid public suspicion.
Recently, Jiang Shuying reportedly returned to China with her baby and quietly attended the 80th-anniversary celebration of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, her alma mater, marking her first public appearance after months of absence. She avoided interviews and kept her distance from the cameras.
QQ also reported citing anonymous insiders that the actress allegedly had the child with the CEO of Bona Film Group, one of China’s leading entertainment companies. However, Jiang Shuying has not issued any statement addressing these claims.
This rumor emerges months after Jiang Shuying was embroiled in a major scandal in August 2024, when she was accused of being a “mistress” in the marriage of actress Jin Qiaoqiao, known as the Journey to the West (1986). She was alleged to be romantically involved with businessman Yu Dong, chairman of Bona Film Group, and was accused of accepting expensive gifts worth hundreds of thousands of USD.
Jiang Shuying denied being the third party, but the controversy severely impacted her once-pristine public image, with many netizens criticizing her as a “fake sweetheart” and “calculative beauty.”
Born in 1986, Jiang Shuying built a reputation as a clean-image actress with no major scandals. She is known for roles in: Nothing But Thirty, Serenade of Peaceful Joy, To Love, Ode to Joy 3, The Lady’s Rules.
She previously dated actor Hu Ge, and although the two were spotted together multiple times in 2014, both denied the relationship until long after their breakup.
