Korean cinema fans can mark their calendars—Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo’s highly anticipated film Project Y is officially set to premiere in theaters on January 21, 2026, according to distributor Plus M Entertainment.
The announcement was accompanied by striking character posters showcasing the intense transformation of the film’s two leads. The crime thriller follows Mi-seon (Han So Hee) and Do-kyung (Jeon Jong Seo), two women living on the edge of society, who risk everything by stealing illicit cash and gold bars in a desperate attempt to change their lives.

In one character poster, Mi-seon grimly warns, “If this goes wrong, we could really die.” Do-kyung, standing in a dimly lit street, responds with reckless resolve: “If we’re doing this, let’s go all in.”
Project Y blends high-stakes action with emotional intensity, capturing the desperation and fierce bond between its central characters. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Kim Shin Rok, Jung Young Joo, Lee Jae Kyoon, Yoo Ah, and Kim Sung Cheol.
Director and production details are yet to be fully revealed, but early buzz points to Project Y as one of 2026’s must-watch Korean films, with powerful performances and a raw, compelling storyline.
Earlier, Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo captivated audiences at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). On September 10 (local time), the two stars attended the festival as the leading actresses of director Lee Hwan’s latest film, Project Y.
Han So Hee stole the spotlight in a peach-toned draped gown with delicate strap details and a plunging neckline that accentuated her striking features. She paired the look with intricately designed leaf-shaped earrings and white heels, exuding elegance and star power. Jeon Jong Seo radiated charm in a white lace strapless gown with a bold heart-shaped neckline that fit her frame like a corset, highlighting her toned physique. Long lace gloves extending from elbow to hand completed her graceful look.

Commenting on the film’s selection, TIFF’s senior programmer Giovanna Fulvi praised the film, stating: “The powerful magnetism created by Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo, combined with adrenaline-pumping action, a wounded childhood, and a fierce struggle for survival, delivers both gripping tension and deep emotional resonance. Centered around a daring plan, Project Y is one of the most anticipated Korean films of the year.”
After its TIFF debut, Project Y is set to hit theaters in South Korea, where anticipation continues to build.
