May the deceased rest in peace.
A massive fire in Hong Kong has killed at least 58 people, with many more injuries reported.
On November 26, a blaze broke out in a high-rise apartment in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district, engulfing multiple residential towers.

According to a resident, despite being equipped, the building’s fire alarms did not go off, giving residents no warning. There are currently individuals trapped inside the building, as firefighters continue to make rescue attempts.
Among the at least 36 deceased is a firefighter who died after sustaining injuries.

With the city facing one of the deadliest fire disasters in its history, the question of potential event cancellations in the case of city-wide mourning has been raised.
The 2025 MAMA Awards in Hong Kong are scheduled to take place on November 28 and 29, with dozens of idols in attendance.

In light of the ongoing fire and tragic loss of life, netizens have weighed in on whether or not the event should take place. A large number believe that it should be cancelled, or at least not broadcast live.

- “Put yourself in their shoes — the answer is obvious… Canceling is the right thing to do.”
- “Wow, you definitely can’t do a live broadcast right now ㅠㅠ”
- “Don’t do it…”
- “They really shouldn’t. Imagine if this happened in our country — it would absolutely not be okay.”
May the deceased rest in peace.
