Years after the sitcom High Kick Through the Roof became a sensation across Korea and Asia, the show’s two most iconic child actresses Jin Ji Hee and Seo Shin Ae have grown into beautiful young women. Yet their adult lives could not be more different.
The High Kick series remains one of Korea’s most beloved family sitcoms, thanks to its relatable humor and heartfelt storytelling. The 2009 second season introduced viewers to two young actresses who quickly stole the spotlight: Jin Ji Hee as the fiery Hae Ri and Seo Shin Ae as the quiet, kind-hearted Shin Ae.
The “spoiled princess” Hae Ri – Jin Ji Hee
Jin Ji Hee played Hae Ri, a mischievous, dramatic little girl with a bratty streak. Despite her character’s sass and outspoken nature, Jin Ji Hee charmed audiences with her comedic timing and impressive acting at such a young age.

Born in 1999, Jin Ji Hee became one of the most in-demand child stars of her time. After High Kick, she appeared in multiple hit projects, including the blockbuster historical drama Moon Embracing the Sun. Even with a busy filming schedule, she maintained excellent grades throughout school, frequently ranking near the top of her class.

Following high school, she pursued a degree in Theater at Dongguk University, solidifying her commitment to professional acting. Over the years, Jin Ji Hee has worked hard to break away from her “sassy child” image, taking on more mature, sophisticated roles in dramas such as The Penthouse: War in Life and Perfect Marriage Revenge.
Now 26, Jin Ji Hee is regarded as one of the strongest young actresses in the industry. With years of experience and a substantial personal fortune earned since childhood, she is considered a rising star with long-term potential in Korean entertainment.
The gentle girl Shin Ae – Seo Shin Ae
In the sitcom, Seo Shin Ae portrayed Shin Ae, a shy and soft-spoken girl from a poor family who was often bullied by Hae Ri. Her natural, heartfelt acting at just eight years old earned the audience’s admiration.
Born in 1998, Seo Shin Ae began acting at age six and became one of Korea’s most recognized child stars thanks to High Kick Through the Roof. She went on to appear in various works, including W, Nightmare Teacher, and Solomon’s Perjury.

However, as she transitioned into adulthood, Shin Ae shifted toward a bolder, more mature image. Her revealing red-carpet wardrobe once sparked controversy, with many viewers saying the transformation was too sudden.
In 2021, she once again drew attention when she claimed to have experienced school bullying and suggested that former i-dle member Soojin was involved though she provided no evidence. This led to intense backlash and heavy criticism online.
Since then, Seo Shin Ae has stepped away from the entertainment industry. Korean media reports that she is now focused on her studies, occasionally sharing quiet snapshots from her travels. Her style has softened, and many fans note that she remains just as lovely as ever.
Although both actresses rose to fame through the same sitcom, their lives have taken strikingly different turns one thriving in the spotlight, and the other choosing a quieter, more private path.
