She and her mother sustained injuries.

Actress Nana and her mother have both been cleared of all charges after they inflicted injuries on a man while subduing him after he broke into her home.

On November 22, KST, Guri Police announced that they plan to send the man, referred to as “A,” to the prosecution on charges of aggravated robbery and assault. “A” had entered Nana’s home, wielding a weapon, prompting the mother-daughter duo to get into a physical altercation. During the fight, the man reportedly sustained a laceration to his jaw caused by his own weapon.
The case gained huge public attention after it was revealed that Nana and her mother had fought off a burglar. While many praised their bravery, people were also curious about the legal nature of the injuries sustained by “A,” particularly whether the law would consider the act self-defense.
The police also began investigating the case to examine whether it fell under self-defense according to Article 21 of the Criminal Act, which states that actions taken to protect oneself or others from a “current unlawful infringement” are justified if there is a “reasonable cause.” According to the investigation, the man broke into Nana’s home at around 6 am on November 15, armed with a weapon. While trying to enter, he was caught by Nana’s mother, and he tried to assault her by choking her. The actress was awakened by her mother’s screams and immediately intervened to stop him. After a physical struggle, the mother and daughter restrained “A” by holding his arms and called the police.
As per the latest reports, the police have determined that Nana and her family faced an actual threat, and hence the injuries inflicted on “A” during the incident were not excessive. Nana’s case, thereby, qualifies as self-defense, and the actress will not be charged with anything.
