At the recent 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, actress Son Ye Jin touched hearts as she was spotted filming child actress Choi So Yul, showcasing a genuine moment of warmth and maternal affection while seated beside her husband, Hyun Bin.
On November 20, the mother of Choi So Yul posted a video on Instagram showing a heartfelt encounter with Son Ye Jin at the awards ceremony. She captioned it, “’No Other Choice’ mom Mi-ri and Ri-won reunited. Always happy to see her, but seeing her at the Blue Dragon made it even more special.”
She also expressed her joy at witnessing Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin seated together for a long time during the ceremony, adding, “Seeing both of them in one frame was pure love. Congratulations to both for winning Best Actor and Actress.”
Choi So Yul, who played Son Ye Jin’s daughter in the film No Other Choice, gave a cello performance at the event. During her performance, Son Ye Jin was caught on camera pulling out her phone to film the touching moment, her gaze full of pride and affection. Seated next to Hyun Bin, she radiated warmth as she watched the young actress perform.
This scene was particularly meaningful given the past controversy before the film’s release, when Son Ye Jin faced accusations of ignoring Choi So Yul on set. The young actress’s mother clarified those misunderstandings, stating, “While there were some confusing moments, the truth is, she was kind and affectionate.”
Son Ye Jin took home the Best Actress Award for her role in No Other Choice. In her emotional acceptance speech, she shared, “This was my first film in seven years. I was worried if I could still do well, but I learned and was inspired acting beside senior actor Lee Byung Hun. After getting married and becoming a mother, my emotions have deepened, and my view of the world has changed. I want to become a better adult and actor.”
She concluded her speech with a touching tribute: “Lastly, I want to share this joy with the two men I love the most my husband Kim Tae Pyung (Hyun Bin) and our baby Kim Woo Jin.”
