As SBS’s highly anticipated drama Taxi Driver 3 gears up for its premiere, actor Kim Eui Sung has taken it upon himself to squash ongoing rumors that he will betray once again—or worse, emerge as the villain.
On November 21, Kim appeared in a video uploaded to SBS’s official channel, declaring, “I’m Kim Eui Sung, and there’s something I really need to say.” The veteran actor, who reprises his role as Jang Sung Chul, Rainbow Taxi Company’s CEO, emphatically stated, “Many people seem to be watching ‘Taxi Driver’ just to see when I’ll turn. But I swear I am not a villain!”
With a tone both pleading and humorous, Kim added, “I’m not the mastermind, I’m not going to betray anyone. This is keeping me up at night. It’s already season 3—what more do I have to do to convince you?”

He concluded his heartfelt plea by urging viewers to “please tune into the premiere on Friday, November 21 at 9:55 PM KST on SBS to find out whether I really betray or not. Please, just trust me. Thank you,” bowing repeatedly in gratitude.
Ironically, despite his earnest denial, the Taxi Driver 3 production team fueled the fire further by releasing a character poster radiating classic villain vibes, further fanning suspicions about Jang Sung Chul’s allegiance.
Kim admitted he was caught off guard by the visual. “I saw the poster too, and honestly, I was shocked. Even to me, it doesn’t look very reassuring,” he said sheepishly.

Laughing off the tension, he added, “It’s kind of hard for me to ask people to believe me now… but I think once you see the premiere, you’ll understand the full story. I mean, as long as I look cool, that’s what matters, right?”
Despite Kim’s best efforts, the production team cheekily closed his video message with a caption that read “Jang Sung Chul is really not a villain?”, leaving a lingering question mark and ensuring speculation lives on.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Taxi Driver has become a flagship SBS hit. The series follows Kim Do Gi (played by Lee Je Hoon), a taxi driver for the secretive Rainbow Taxi Company, as he delivers vigilante justice on behalf of wronged victims. Kim Eui Sung has portrayed Jang Sung Chul since Season 1, and his return for Season 3 marks a two-year comeback in the same role.
